Nowadays, many at home have several computers, however, not all of them are combined into a local area network ... And the local network gives very interesting things: you can play network games, share files (or use the total disk space), work together over documents, etc.
There are several ways to combine computers to the local network, but one of the cheapest and simple is to use a network cable (normal twisted pair) by connecting them network cards of computers. That's how it is done and consider in this article.
1) 2 computers with network cards, to which we will connect a twisted pair.
All modern laptops (computers) tend to have at least one network card in their arsenal. The easiest way to find out if you have a network card on your PC - it is to use some utility to view the PC characteristics (for these utilities, see this article :).

By the way, you can also pay attention to all connectors that are on the laptop housing (computer). If there is a network card - you will see the standard RJ45 connector (see Fig. 2).

2) Network cable (so-called twisted pair).
The easiest option is to just buy such a cable. True, this option will be suitable if the computers are not far from each other and you do not need to drive a cable through the wall.

1) Computer connection with a network cable.
There is nothing cunning here - just connect computers with cable and turn on both. Often, next to the connector, there is a green LED that will signal you that you have connected the computer to some network.

2) Setting the computer name and working group.
The next important nuance - in both computers (connected cable) must be:
- same working groups ( in my case, this is a workgroup, see fig. five);
- different computer names.
To set these settings, go to " MY COMPUTER» ( or this computer), Next, in any place, click the right mouse button and in the pop-up context menu, select the link " Properties". Then you can see the name of your PC and the Working Group, as well as change them ( see green circle in Fig. five).

After changing the name of the computer and its working group - be sure to restart the PC.
3) Setting up a network adapter (set of IP addresses, subnet masks, DNS server)
Then you need to go to the Windows control panel, address: .
Actually, then you should see your network adapter if it is connected to another PC cable - it should not burn any red crosses ( see fig. 6, most often, the name of such an Ethernet adapter). You must click on it with the right mouse button and go to its properties, then go to Protocol properties " IP version 4.» ( in these settings you need to go on both PCs).

Now on one computer you need to set the following data:
- IP address: 192.168.0.1;
- Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0 (as in Fig. 7).

On the second computer you need to set several other parameters:
- IP address: 192.168.0.2;
- Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0;
- Main gateway: 192.168.0.1;
- Preferred DNS server: 192.168.0.1 (as in Fig. 8).

Next save the settings. Directly configuring the local connection is complete. Now, if you go to the conductor and click the link "Network" (left) - you should see computers in your working group ( true, while we have not yet opened access to files, this is now now ...).

1) Enabling shared files and printers
Come in the Windows Control Panel along the way: Control Panel \\ Network and Internet \\ Network Management Center and Common Access.

Also a very common task that users encounter. As a rule, one computer is connected to the Internet in the apartment, and the rest get access to it (if, of course, the router is not installed :)).

So, there are two most common ways to connect and / or share information between two personal computers.
How to connect a laptop to a laptop via WiFi?
The easiest way to create such a local network is to connect a laptop to a laptop via WiFi. Since all modern laptops are already equipped with a built-in WiFi module, you can only do with standard tools of the operating system, and you do not need any additional software or equipment.
To connect 2 wireless laptops, you must:
- - on one of the computers (for example, from which data transmission will be made), open the "Network and Shared Access Center" - "Changing the Adapter Parameters";
- - On the existing network, call the Menu and in the list presented, select "Properties";
- - Next, open the properties of the Internet Protocol 4 (TCP / IP) ": The parameters for obtaining" IP Addresses "must be" automatically ";
Next, on both computers, open "Change Advanced Sharing Options" and in the list of the list, make sure that the items specified in the following figure These parameters open the network access).
In addition, you should disable password protection in the All Networks section;

The second method includes minor costs for the purchase of "LAN cable", compressed by a crossover method (reverse), and the process of setting up the local network between laptops is much easier to describe above. But for the speed of the connection will have to pay the local network mobility. And the settings will really take no more pair of minutes:
- - Connect the laptops with each other "LAN Cable";
- - In the "Network and Shared Access Center", open "Changing the Adapter Settings" - Properties of the Internet Protocol 4 (TCP / IP). You can also go to network connections and the "NCPA.CPL" command;

The entire local network between the two laptops is configured. You can connect to the computer on the same principle: \\\\ IP_adress or open "My Computer" - "Network" and in the list find the laptop you need.
If the desired device has not been determined, check all the checkboxes on network detection you installed in the "Change Advanced Sharing Options" section.
In combination with this method, you can use third-party programs to transfer files from a laptop to a laptop: For this work, the free HFS program (HTTP File Server) is perfectly required, which does not require installation.
How to connect a laptop to a laptop via USB?
If these options are not suitable for you, you can use the Easy Transfer Cable adapter to connect the laptops using the "USB ports" of laptops.
The cost of this cable is small: for a decent proven version will have to pay about 500 rubles (for example, "Windows Easy Transfer Cable" from "St Lab").
So, to connect a laptop to a laptop via USB, connect the computers with the "Easy Transfer Cable" adapter and on both PC run the Total Comander program. Next, on each computer, open the "Network" submenu and select "Install the connection via LPT / USB-port".
Now it is necessary to choose which laptop will act as a "server", and what is the role of "client" (a kind of flash drive).
But this method is not perfect, there is here and its cons:
- - A computer that will receive a file may not be available until the transmission is completed;
- - errors may occur when transmitted between differential operating systems (between 64-bit and 32-bit or vice versa);
- - Errors when transferring files between the OS with different languages.
Of all the ways described above, the best option for creating a local network laptop - a laptop is a wireless connection option. It is more mobile, since no wires are required and there is no significant impact on the performance of laptops. In addition, when the laptop is connected to a laptop via WiFi, you can connect an unlimited number of devices with a sufficiently high data transfer rate.
There are many ways to transfer information from a computer to a computer, and the use of each of them is due to the conditions and capabilities of the one who needs to be transported. In particular, two protocols are specifically for the appropriate purposes: LAN and WLAN. Also on modern machines there is a HDMI port. But is it possible to use it to exchange information between devices, and if so, how to connect a laptop to a laptop via HDMI, about it further.
Connect the laptop to a laptop through HDMI is quite simple. To do this, insert cables in the nests, and ... and nothing further. The fact is that HDMI in laptops works only on the exit. That is, it can transmit data, but it is not capable of getting them.
HDMI in laptops is designed to output images and sound to an external output device, such as TV. Thus, it turns out that connecting two laptop HDMI cable is meaningless.
How can you connect laptops with each other
But, however, why at all try using HDMI technology to exchange data between laptops, if there are several other protocols in modern devices, which are specifically designed for these purposes.
Method 1. Using Wi-Fi

- After that, click "Next" - "Ready".
Then you will need to change the shared access parameters, for which you need to open "Advanced Sharing Options" and, for example, for the "home and working" network, put all the switches to the "Allow" position.
The created network will allow sending files from a laptop to a laptop to use the public Internet (if shared access is enabled), etc.
Method 2. Connecting through LAN ports
Another option is to connect a laptop to a laptop via LAN ports. This will require a cable with appropriate inputs / outputs. To create a LAN connection, you will need:
- Connect the cable to two laptops;
- Press "Win + R" and enter "NCPA.cpl";
- In the window that opens, click right-click on the "Local Area Connection";
- Select "Properties";
- In the window that appears, you will need to click twice to the "Internet version 4" protocol;
- In the displayed window, enter: "IP address": 192.168.1.1, "Mask": 255.255.255.0.
On the second computer, you will need to repeat these actions, only specifying other data: "IP address": 192.168.1.2, "Mask": 255.255.255.0. After that, two computers will be combined into one network, and they can freely share information.
Method 3. Connect laptops via Bluetooth
Another option is the connection of two laptops via Bluetooth. To set the connection to this protocol, a special program will be required, for example, BlueSoleil. How to configure the Bluetooth connection, see the instructions supplied with the software.
Transferring data between devices is one of the most important applications of a personal computer. The effective and inexpensive method of connecting multiple PC is the use of a network (LAN, Ethernet) cable "Twisted pair".
The twisted pair cable consists of eight copper, intertwined pairs, enclosed in the plastic shell of conductors, sometimes with shielding in the form of aluminum foil or braid. Outside, the cable has an outer sheath of PVC.
Interlacing and steam shielding is used to reduce the amount of interference on the cable and increasing the data transfer rate. The cable has an UTP and FTP designation (shielded twisted pair).
Straight or cross cable
One of the main questions of connecting a PC using an Ethernet cable is what type of cable, straight (straight) or cross (cross, crossover), must be used.
To find out this, you need to determine which devices cable will connect:
In the direct cable connections (pinout) of contacts at both ends of its ends (1-1 2-2, etc.). This type of cable is used to transmit, but not to exchange data between devices.
In the cross-cable, the transmitting steam at one end is connected to the receiving pair on the other (pinout 1-3, 2-6), i.e. Connecting contacts in the Cross Cable, which ensures the exchange of data between two devices.
Note!The contact color in the examples indicates the color of the insulating sheath of the cable conductors.
Many devices today support AUTO-MDI (X) ports, where data transmission is configured automatically.
Reference! If in connection at least one of the devices supports AUTO-MDI (X), this eliminates the mandatory use of a certain type of cable - cross or straight.
Connection of two PCs via vitu couple
To directly connect two PCs, it is better to purchase a cross cable of the desired length to avoid misunderstandings. Next, you need to connect the computers with this cable.
Step 1. Find on the computers panel RJ-45 connector to connect a network cable. This connector is available almost on any PC or laptop.
Step 2. Insert the Ethernet cable plug into the connector until it clicks, linking them two computers.

Software configuration
To configure the PC connection, you need to translate them into a common workgroup.
Step 1. Click on the keyboard of the first PC, the key + R keys ("Win" is located to the right of the "Ctrl"). Print in the "sysdm.cpl" field and click "OK".
Step 2. In the "System Properties", click on the Computer Name tab and click "Change".

Step 5. After rebooting, click on the "Win + R" keyboard and dial in the "Control" field. Press "OK".
Step 6. Click "Viewing status ...", if the "category", or "control center ...", if "icons" are activated.

Step 7. Click "Changing the Adapter ...".

Adjusting access to PC
To exchange data between the PC, you need to give permission to access their files and folders.
Step 1. In the "Network Management Center ..." (see Steps 5-6 Previous section) Click "Change additional parameters ...".
Step 2. Open all network profiles in the drop-down list and enable all permissions for detection, access and PC management.
Step 3. Dogging at the bottom of the list, select the turning off password protection. Click "Save Changes".
Step 4. Take steps 1-3 on another PC.
You can now view connected PCs in the "Network" category.

The correctness of the PC connection to each other can be checked by a Ping command, for example, using a PC that is indicated by an IP address 192.168.0.2.
Step 1. Press "Win + R", print "CMD" and click "OK".
Step 2. Enter in the window: Ping 192.168.0.1 and click "Enter" on the keyboard. Lines starting "reply from ..." ("answer from ...") will appear. This means that PC "sees" another PC and the connection is established.
If the message "Request Timed Out ..." ("exceeded interval ..."), this means that there is no connection between the PC. In such a situation, you need to double-check all the settings mentioned above.
Note!The network connection can also be blocked by a firewall (firewall) of Windows or installed on a PC antivirus. In addition, an Ethernet cable or PC network cards can be faulty.
Internet access
The network connection with the release of two PCs in the Internet is possible if an additional network board is installed on one of the PC and the distribution of the Internet is set.
After the physical connection of the PC, in addition to the settings specified above, you will also need to specify the gateway number in setting the TCP / IPv4 protocol on both PCs.
Step 1. Open the settings "Connecting over the local network" by the right mouse button and select "Properties" (see steps 5-8 to "Connection Software").

Alternative options
Among alternative options can be considered both wired communications and wireless. Since the second type is more technologically, it will start to get acquainted with the wireless method of transmitting information.
The easiest way to combine laptops to the local network for file transfer is Bluetooth. It is difficult to find a laptop in which this module would not stand. Nevertheless, if anyone did not seem to be the owner of a similar model, it is not necessary to get upset. The external Bluetooth module will easily solve this problem. Its price is not large, and in the event of a breakdown, it is much easier to replace it and cheaper than to disassemble the laptop and extract from there the aggregate from there.
So, for combining two laptops with a wireless Bluetooth system, only several actions are sufficient. To begin, run on the same laptop search for the device, and on the second it opens access to be detected by the first module. After detection, connect, entering the password. The code combination may be any, the user himself comes up with it. The main thing is to enter the same code on two devices. And that's it. Laptops are combined.
The second way is to combine the Wi-Fi network. Here, too, there should also be big problems. Open the setup window, select the creation of a new network (home or working - depending on what purpose the network is used), create a network computer network, protect it with a reliable password and encryption method, after which we click the "Finish" button.
The third way is to combine the LAN cable. This method is less convenient, as you have to bind two devices among themselves through outdated technology, but this does not make it less effective. To begin with, connect the laptops by the cable, then call the command command combination "Win + R" commands (or the "Run" tab in the Start menu) and enter the "NCPA.CP" menu, after which in the window that opens, call the context menu and choose "LAN connection". We find the "Properties" tab, and in the window that opens twice click on the "Internet version 4" protocol, and enter the IP and mask. On the second laptop, the entire procedure is repeated, with the exception of one point. The last digit in the IP address will not be 1, and 2, as the second device is connected. All other numbers will coincide.
