Of course, today you can buy various kinds of inverters, which is called, for every taste and wallet, but those devices with whom we had to face me were distinguished by two substantial disadvantages. True, if you decide to go on my footsteps and make a car inverter from the UPS, do not forget to take into account one point - many modern uninterrupted rooms have a shutdown timer that is toughly "sewn" in the fee. And so, to begin with, it is necessary to throw the device body - it will not need, for it is planned to put a stationary outlet, mounted in the car's cabin. Passing into the car, you need to solve two main problems - where does it come from and where to place an inverter. I will talk about solving these issues on the example of my Volga.

To begin with, I began to solve a nutritional issue, even asked the thematic forum, but the opinions were divided there - some insisted on connecting such a load directly to the battery, others allowed the connection to the subwoofer. It is clear that to connect reliable to the battery, but I really didn't want to drill a hole in the engine compartment. At the same time, the wire, in fact, directly from the battery, is suitable for the ignition lock, and it is convenient, but minus is that this wire has an insufficient diameter to ensure such power. In addition, I planned to be taught on the same line and heated seats.

But, in the end, I figured all the options, and yet I decided to connect to the ignition lock, only by providing the connection to the fuse not on the 70A, as it should be loaded, and on 40a, i.e., on the load on which the onboard network is calculated on the load Volga. This solution will slightly reduce the maximum permissible power of the inverter, but I have no task to use it 100% (the load, at least according to the plans, should not exceed 400W, and that will rarely). In any case, I do not risk a fire in the car - on the 40a borate network is calculated, and the fuse will not miss a larger load.

Now, when it became clear, what to connect the inverter, it remains to solve the second question - where to put it. The fee there is quite impressive, it should stand closely from the control panel (for I did not want to bother with the elongation of two dozen minor wiring). At the same time, it was necessary to place a socket from the seat of the passenger-navigator.

Here I remembered that on the "Volga" with the motor ZMZ-406, to the right of the passenger's leg, behind the door, under the "pushed" plastic lining, stands the ECU. But I have a car with the engine "Chrysler", and its "brain" stands under the hood, but the same "pushed" lining is still present. It would be logical to think that under it empty, and there is enough space there for the location of the entire block of the inverter. In short, I unscrew this overlay, and then the truth is emptiness - lucky!

Now I figured how the inverter nodes will be located (and their own, actually three are a socket, control board and the transformation fee), outlined this location, and began to smell the holes polished on the burner with a knife.
