Buying a new computer or reinstalling the operating system on the old one is quite a joyful event, as working on a clean, non-cluttered system is a pleasure. That's just overshadow all this joy can be transferred to only the installed system of really important and necessary applications. Why do you ask? Well, for example, there was no installation disk at hand, and all the complex settings of the necessary programs have long been forgotten.

The program has been updated to version 5.13.2. And it was updated in our same Russian-language version ...
Utility called PickMeApp   Allows you to quickly and easily transfer already installed applications along with individual settings to another computer. In this case, the user does not have to use the original disk with the desired program and spend time on reinstalling. After starting PickMeApp scans the computer and enters all the programs that it can transfer to the left panel. Then the selected programs are packaged (along with their data from the windows registry and settings) on a flash drive, external drive or network drive. After that, PickMeApp is launched on another computer and the previously packaged programs are installed.
The user interface of the product boasts exceptional ease of use. On the left side of the screen there is a list of installed applications, and on the right panel transferred programs are displayed, in addition, here the user can configure some transfer settings. After selecting the necessary applications, just click on the Capture Marked Application button and PickMeApp will independently perform all the necessary operations. The process may take some time depending on the size of the source applications.

Utility PickMeApp   makes it possible to view information about any application, such as the version of the application, the estimated size of the future archive, the time of its creation, etc. To do this, left-click to select the application you are interested in. There are three buttons below the information: Capture   - capture application Repair   - restore the application, Uninstall   - uninstall the application.

PickMeApp can be used to transfer to a new device a huge number of common software products from integrated development environments, graphic packages and desktop publishing systems to small system utilities.

If profile is used   “My Capture Application”, then the application will be packed into a file with the extension .tap and written to a subfolder of Tapps (a subfolder of the utility itself). If you want to save the file in a different folder, you need to add a new profile. To do this, click “Create new profile”   or activate it by clicking the left mouse button.

After selecting the applications necessary for the transfer, you need to start the process of creating their installation packages, which include all the necessary file, settings, registry branches. To start, click “Capture marked application”.

All ready-made packages are easily transferred to your profile using the button Import. To deploy such packages on a new system, just select them in the right panel of PickMeApp and click “Install marked application”   start the installation. PickMeApp 5.13.2:

In the absence of a distribution kit, many programs and games can simply be copied from one computer to another. At the same time, on another machine, the program will also work correctly as on the one installed from the distribution kit. But there are also often instances that are not easy to copy — to run them, you need certain keys in the registry that are created during installation. I will give an example of restoring the necessary registry branches in such cases.

If the install.log file is present in the folder with your program, which stores all the information about the installation procedure, consider that you will not have problems with this program. In this file (you can open it with notepad), in addition to the list of copied files, contains information about installed registry branches. Let's look at the example of the game Pro Evolution Soccer 2008.

RegDB Val: F: \\ Games \\ PES08 \\
RegDB Name: installdir
RegDB Root: 2
RegDB Key: SOFTWARE \\ KONAMI \\ PES2008
RegDB Val: NA9C97ANHSLC46R5JYM9
RegDB Name: code
RegDB Root: 2
RegDB Key: SOFTWARE \\ KONAMI \\ PES2008
RegDB Val: 1.00.0000
RegDB Name: version
RegDB Root: 2
RegDB Key: SOFTWARE \\ KONAMI \\ PES2008 \\ 1.00.0000
RegDB Val:
RegDB Root: 2

This is an excerpt from the install.log file. Here is information about four keys added to the registry. If you can access a computer with a correctly installed program, then it will be enough to save the necessary branches in a reg-file. Otherwise, you will need to create these branches manually.

Suppose the very first key is created as follows: open the registry editor ("Start" -\u003e "Run" -\u003e regedit), the tab HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -\u003e SOFTWARE. Right-click on the SOFTWARE section and select "Create Partition", after which we enter the name of the KONAMI section. Then, in the KONAMI section, in the same way we create the PES2008 section. Now the path to the key is fully consistent with the entry in install.log, it remains to create the key.

We open the KONAMI section and in the right part of the window, right-click, select "Create" -\u003e "String parameter". Enter the name of the installdir parameter, press Enter and double-click on the key you just created. We write the value F: \\ Games \\ PES08 \\ into it. This completes the key creation. Other keys are created in the same way.

You can go another way - create a file with the extension reg in notepad with the following information:

"Installdir" \u003d "F: \\ Games \\ PES08 \\"
"Code" \u003d "NA9C97ANHSLC46R5JYM9 ″
"Version" \u003d "1.00.0000 ″

Here in square brackets the path to the key is indicated, below is the name of the key and its value. Keys located at one address are written one after another. You can write as many keys as you like in one file. Useful when the program needs to be transferred to multiple computers. If the file is created correctly, then it will be enough just to run it on each machine.

Imagine several situations that every PC user periodically encounters.

Situation 1.   You bought a new computer and now want to transfer all the data from the old computer to it. How to do it?

If there is a spare HDD of sufficient capacity in the reserve, then you need to copy all the information from the old PC to it, connect it to the new one and start the copy process again.
Thus, you can only transfer user files and folders, but if in this way you try to transfer installed programs, then they will not work - they must be reinstalled.

Situation 2.   You want to update the version of the operating system, for example, switch from an already outdated Windows XP to Windows 7 or 10, but at the same time keep the settings and performance of the programs already installed on the PC. How to do it?

And in the first and second case, the EaseUS Todo PCTrans program will come to the rescue, which has a lot of positive reviews on the network, and which anyone, whether a beginner or an advanced user, can easily master.

Supported Operating Systems

Todo PCTrans runs on all Windows operating systems from XP to, including Windows Server. At the same time, data transfer from computer to computer is possible only if both PCs are installed identical versions of Windows   or data is transferred from a PC with an older version of the OS on a PC with a newer, for example, from Windows 7 to Windows 8 or 10. Thus, it is not possible to transfer data from Windows 7 to Windows XP.

Direct data transfer between two computers

1. In order to copy all the necessary files and installed programs between two PCs, they must be interconnected in   one LAN, wired or wireless. On both, the Todo PCTrans program should be running and the Via network connection option should be selected:

3. In the next window, select which type of data you want to move: Applications or User Data. By clicking on the square icon you can specify specific directories and folders:

By pressing the “Transfer” button, the data migration process starts.

Data transfer through image creation (backup)

This method is useful in the case when you need to update the OS on one computer or laptop, saving all the settings, or connecting two PCs to the same network to transfer data between them (as in the first case) is not possible.

1. Launch Todo PCTrans on your computer and select the “Via an image file” option. In the next window, select "Create the image file".

2. Specify the necessary folders and applications, click the "Save" button.

3. Copy the created image to the second PC, run the program on it and select “Via an image file” -\u003e “Transfer from the image file”.

4. Start the copy process.

The difference between the FREE and PRO versions

The difference between FREE and PRO is that in the free version of the program you can configure the transfer of only two applications. The license for the Professional version is priced at $ 49.95.

PickMeApp 5.13.2:

The article describes ways that you can transfer data from one computer to another   with a guarantee of data safety and without much effort. Transferring files, settings and programs to a new computer can be difficult and frightening for the user, especially if he does not know how to do it right and where to start.

Often it all boils down to the user copying the most necessary and important data from the old PC to an external storage medium, followed by copying it to the hard drive of the new computer. This method also has a place to be, but it involves a risk of data loss in the process and / or as a result of information transfer. But what about the applications and settings of the operating system?

In fact, there are several ways that will help transfer data from one computer to another more efficiently and with less effort, and most importantly, with a guarantee of safety.

Content:

Data Transfer Tools

There are many utilities for transferring data, settings, and programs to a new computer. To use them, it is enough to install such a program on both computers and transfer your files, applications and settings with their help.

A tool with such functionality is provided free of charge by Microsoft - it is Windows Easy Transfer. And although, starting with Windows 10, it is already absent as a built-in utility in the operating system, Microsoft offers to use another third-party application - PCmover Express.

The principle of the program is as follows:   connect an external storage medium to the computer and run the application; transfer your data from the computer to external media and then connect it to another PC to which you want to transfer data; run this application on a new computer and transfer data from an external medium to this computer.

Backing up and restoring files

Transferring files and system settings to another computer is also possible with the built-in tool for backing up and restoring files.

Using this tool, you can create an image of the system. This will be a complete image of the operating system, including system files, installed programs, and personal files. Simply deploy a system image that was created from an old computer on a new computer.

Just copy the files

Also, do not forget about the ability to copy files manually, so you can transfer personal files from computer to computer. To do this, connect an external storage medium of sufficient volume (for example, an external hard drive) to the computer and copy all the files that need to be transferred to it. After that, connect this disk to the new computer and transfer the necessary files.

If all your files on the computer are well organized and you know their location on the hard drive, then you will not have difficulties with the implementation of this method.

This way you can transfer files, but not settings. If you also need to transfer the browser bookmarks, you will need to export / import them using the functions of the browser itself. All modern browsers also have synchronization functions with which you can import all the settings.

Cloud storage

Cloud storage services can store user data, settings, and other data, and do a good job of this. To do this, just install the service client on your computer and configure data storage using it. On another computer, it will be enough to install the same client and go to the created earlier account, and you will have access to all the data stored in it.

There are many such services at the moment, the most popular of them are Dropbox and Google Drive, as well as Microsoft OneDrive integrated in Windows. You can use any convenient for you.

If the computer crashes

If the transition to a new computer is due to the inoperability of the old one, then the user's personal data from it can also be transferred.

To do this, connect the hard drive of the old computer to the new one and check how it is determined by the operating system (it all depends on the reasons for the failure of the old PC). If it is defined by the computer as another hard drive and all files are available for use in it, then it is enough to carry out the actions described in paragraph “Just copy the files”. You can only copy them directly to the hard drive of a new computer.

If the files of the hard drive from the old computer are not displayed, then you can restore them using the program for recovering data from the hard drive - Hetman Partition Recovery. To do this, run it and scan the hard drive. All files found by the program are saved on the new hard drive of the computer.

Switching to a new computer should not be a problem for the user. Some tools provide the ability to transfer even installed programs and applications. But the most important factor in the transfer of data is the user's personal files, which should not be damaged or lost, during or as a result of the transfer of data. The methods described above should help the user avoid such unpleasant consequences.
