PickMeApp 5.13.2:

In the absence of a distribution kit, many programs and games can be simply copied from one computer to another. At the same time, the program will work correctly on another machine as well as on the one installed from the distribution kit. But you also often come across instances that are not enough just to copy - to run them, you need certain keys in the registry, created during installation. I will give an example of restoring the necessary registry branches in such cases.

If there is an install.log file in the folder with your program, which stores all information about the installation procedure, consider that you will not have any problems with this program. This file (you can open it with notepad), in addition to the list of copied files, contains information about the installed registry branches. Let's consider an example games Pro Evolution Soccer 2008.

RegDB Val: F: \\ Games \\ PES08 \\
RegDB Name: installdir
RegDB Root: 2
RegDB Key: SOFTWARE \\ KONAMI \\ PES2008
RegDB Val: NA9C97ANHSLC46R5JYM9
RegDB Name: code
RegDB Root: 2
RegDB Key: SOFTWARE \\ KONAMI \\ PES2008
RegDB Val: 1.00.0000
RegDB Name: version
RegDB Root: 2
RegDB Key: SOFTWARE \\ KONAMI \\ PES2008 \\ 1.00.0000
RegDB Val:
RegDB Root: 2

This is an excerpt from the install.log file. Here is information about the four keys added to the registry. If you can access a computer with a correctly installed program, then it will be enough to save the necessary branches to a reg file. Otherwise, you will need to create these branches manually.

Let's say the very first key is created as follows: open the registry editor ("Start" -\u003e "Run" -\u003e regedit), the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE tab -\u003e SOFTWARE. Clicking right click mouse on the SOFTWARE section and select "Create section", then enter the name of the KONAMI section. Then, in the KONAMI section, create the PES2008 section in the same way. Now the path to the key fully matches the entry in install.log, it remains to create the key.

Open the KONAMI section and right-click on the right side of the window, select "New" -\u003e "String Parameter". Enter the name of the installdir parameter, press Enter and double-click on the key we just created. We write the value F: \\ Games \\ PES08 \\ into it. This completes the creation of the key. The rest of the keys are created in the same way.

You can also go the other way - create a file with the reg extension in Notepad with the following information:

"Installdir" \u003d "F: \\ Games \\ PES08 \\"
"Code" \u003d "NA9C97ANHSLC46R5JYM9"
"Version" \u003d "1.00.0000 ″

Here the path to the key is indicated in square brackets, below the name of the key and its value. Keys located at the same address are written one after another. You can write as many keys as you like in one file. Useful when the program needs to be transferred to several computers. If the file is created correctly, then it will be enough to just run it on each machine.

Let's imagine several situations that every PC user faces periodically.

Situation 1. You bought new computer and now you want to transfer all data from your old computer to it. How to do it?

If there is a spare HDD of sufficient capacity in stock, then you need to copy all the information from the old PC to it, connect it to the new one and start the copying process again.
Thus, you can transfer only user files and folders, but if you try to transfer installed programs in this way, then they will not work - they must be reinstalled.

Situation 2. You want to update the version of the operating system, for example, go from already outdated Windows XP on Windows 7 or 10, but at the same time keep the settings and functionality of the programs already installed on the PC. How to do it?

In both the first and second cases, the EaseUS Todo PCTrans program will come to the rescue, which has a lot positive feedback online, and easily mastered by anyone, be it a beginner or an advanced user.

Supported operating systems

Todo PCTrans works on all operating systems windows family from XP version to including Windows Server... In this case, the transfer of data from computer to computer is possible only if both PCs are installed identical Windows versions or the data is transferred from the PC with more old version OS on a PC with a newer, for example, from Windows 7 to Windows 8 or 10. Thus, it is not possible to transfer data from Windows 7 to Windows XP.

Direct data transfer between two computers

1. In order to copy all the necessary files and installed programs between two PCs, they must be connected to each other in one lAN networks, wired or wireless... Both of them must have Todo PCTrans running and the Via network connection option selected:

3. In the next window, you must select which type of data you want to move: Applications (Applications) or User Data (User data). By clicking on the square icon, you can specify specific directories and folders:

By clicking the "Transfer" button, the data migration process starts.

Data transfer through image creation (backup)

This method is useful in the case when you need to update the OS on one computer or laptop, saving all settings, or connecting two PCs into one network to transfer data between them (as in the first case) is not possible.

1. Launch Todo PCTrans on your computer and select the “Via an image file” option. In the next window select "Create the image file".

2. Specify desired folders and application, click the "Save" button.

3. Copy the created image to the second PC, run the program on it and select "Via an image file" -\u003e "Transfer from the image file".

4. Start the copying process.

Difference between FREE and PRO versions

The difference between FREE and PRO is that free version programs can be configured to transfer only two applications. The Professional license is selling for $ 49.95.

Buying a new computer or reinstalling an operating system on an old one is quite a joyful event, because working on a clean, uncluttered system is a pleasure. But the transfer of really important and necessary applications to only the installed system can darken all this joy. Why do you ask? Well, for example, there was no installation disk at hand, and all the complex settings of the necessary programs have long been forgotten.

PickMeApp 5.13.2:

The article describes ways by which you can transfer data from one computer to another with a guarantee of data safety and effortlessly. Transferring files, settings and programs to a new computer can be difficult and intimidating for the user, especially if he does not know how to do it correctly and where to start.

Often it all comes down to copying the most necessary and important data from an old PC to an external storage medium by the user, followed by copying to hDD new computer. This method also takes place, but it is fraught with the risk of data loss during the process and / or as a result of information transfer. But what about applications and operating system settings?

In fact, there are several ways that can help you transfer data from one computer to another with better quality and less effort, and most importantly - with a guarantee of safety.

Content:

Data migration tools

There are many utilities for transferring data, settings, and programs to a new computer. To use them, you just need to install such a program on both computers and transfer your files, applications and settings with their help.

A tool with such functionality is provided free of charge and by Microsoft Is Windows Easy Transfer. And although, starting with Windows 10, it is no longer available as a built-in utility in the operating system, Microsoft suggests using another third party application - PCmover Express.

The principle of the program is as follows: connect an external storage device to your computer and run the application; transfer your data from your computer to an external medium and then connect it to another PC to which you want to transfer data; run this application on a new computer and transfer the data from the external media to this computer.

Backing up and restoring files

You can also transfer files and system settings to another computer with the built-in File Backup and Restore tool.

Via this instrument you can create a system image. This will be a complete image of the operating system, including system files, installed programs, and personal files. You just need to deploy a system image that was created from the old computer to the new computer.

Just copy the files

Also, do not forget about the possibility of copying files manually, so you can transfer personal files from computer to computer. To do this, connect an external storage medium of sufficient volume to the computer (for example, an external hard drive) and copy all the files that need to be transferred to it. After that, connect this disc to the new computer and transfer the necessary files.

If all your files on the computer are well organized and you know their location on the hard drive, then the difficulties with the implementation this method you will not have.

This way you will be able to transfer files, but not settings. If you also need to transfer browser bookmarks, they will need to be exported / imported using the functions of the browser itself. All modern browsers also have sync functions, with which you can import all settings.

Cloud storage

Services cloud storage can store user data, settings and other data, and they do it well. To do this, it is enough to install the service client on your computer and configure data storage with its help. On another computer, it will be enough to install the same client and go to the previously created account, and you will have access to all the data stored in it.

Such services on this moment many, the most popular of them are Dropbox and Google Drive, as well as integrated into Windows - Microsoft OneDrive. You can use whatever is convenient for you.

If the computer is out of order

If the transition to a new computer is due to the inoperability of the old one, then the user's personal data from it can also be transferred.

To do this, connect the hard drive of the old computer to the new one and check how it is detected operating system (it all depends on the reasons for the failure of the old PC). If it is determined by the computer as another hard drive and all files are available for use in it, then it is enough to carry out the actions that are described in paragraph "Just copy the files"... You can only copy them straight to the hard drive of a new computer.

If the files hard disk from the old computer are not displayed, then you can restore them using the program for recovering hard disk data - Hetman Partition Recovery. To do this, launch it and scan your hard drive. Save all files found by the program to new hard computer disk.

The transition to a new computer should not be difficult for the user. Some tools provide the ability to transfer even installed programs and applications. But the most important factor in data transfer is the user's personal files, which should not be damaged or lost, during or as a result of data transfer. The methods described above should help the user to avoid such unpleasant consequences.
