The fantastic foldable Samsung Galaxy X is pictured for the first time from all angles. How much will the Samsung Galaxy S10 Lite cost

According to an extremely authoritative Korean publication, at CES 2018 in a closed mode of a smartphone Samsung Galaxy X. The events were held in the strictest secrecy, and only selected partners of the South Korean corporation could take part in it, that is, journalists were not allowed there, and all people who could get there were forced to hand over all the electronics. Such measures helped Samsung avoid information leakage.

Just the other day, images of the fantastic foldable smartphone Samsung Galaxy X were leaked on the network, on which this mobile device can be viewed from all sides. Expected that new flagship the South Korean corporation will look exactly like this, although, most likely, by the time of its official announcement in November-December 2018, the designers will change something, making it even more attractive.

Smartphone Samsung Galaxy X, judging by the pictures, is equipped with a single flexible AMOLED-screen that occupies 99% of the space on the front. The body of the phone is made of Kevlar composite material, thanks to which it can be bent an unlimited number of times without the risk of damaging the device one day. For those who don't know, Kevlar is practically the most durable material on Earth.

When folded, the diagonal of the AMOLED display of the Samsung Galaxy X smartphone is 5-inches with a QHD resolution (2560 by 1440 pixels), while when unfolded, the top-end mobile device turns into a real tablet with an 8-inch display and already with a 4K resolution ( 4096 by 3072 pixels). In both cases, support for HDR 10 technology is implemented, which makes the picture even more realistic.

On back cover the fantastic foldable Samsung smartphone has a single main camera, right under which there is a place for led flash and a couple of sensors. Slightly below is the fingerprint scanner familiar to everyone. The front of the phone houses the earpiece, dual front camera, and a few more sensors.

It's scary to even think about how much the Samsung Galaxy X will cost when it goes on sale. The price tag will definitely exceed $ 1000, so it is quite possible that the new South Korean flagship, even if it is revolutionary, will become the most expensive in the world. mobile device... The official announcement of the novelty is expected at the very end of 2018, while it should arrive on store shelves a few months later.

"If a laptop, then Centrino" - such a slogan put forward by Intel in 2003. Most of the mobile PC manufacturers have followed this rule by releasing their Centrino models one after another. Thus, at the time of this review, there are already over 60 types of mobile PCs in the world that support the newfangled technology. We got our hands on a South Korean brother. The Samsung X-10 / 1.3G is a brand new laptop launched earlier this month.

Specifications (edit)

Samsung X-10 / 1.3G is the first representative of the family of notebooks from the South Korean company of the same name, made using the technology Intel Centrino... The model carries:

  • 14.1 "TFT screen supporting 1024x768 screen resolution;
  • Pentium M 1300 MHz processor with 1024 KB L2 cache;
  • chipset: 855PM;
  • memory: 256MB PC2100 DDR SDRAM;
  • player: Combo 8xDVD - Samsung 8x8x24CD-RW;
  • video subsystem: GeForce4-460Go with 64MB of virtual memory;
  • hard drive: IDE 2.5 "Ultra DMA 30 GB;
  • communication facilities: 56Kb (V.90) modem, 10/100 ALS, 802.11b;
  • Ports and connectors: 2xUSB 2.0, IEEE-1394, RJ-45, RJ-11, S-Video out, 1xVGA, Memory stick slot.

Equipment

The laptop box turned out to be very large. Inside it can be seen the X-10, which is neatly wrapped in a plastic bag and rests on two foam bases. The rest of the space is occupied by the following:

  • Power supply unit with power cord;
  • Modem cord;
  • OEM CD Windows version XP Professional;
  • CD with Nero - Burning Rom;
  • CD with Power DVD;
  • CD-ROM manual;
  • A brochure from Microsoft on WinXP's usefulness;
  • Documentation in Russian.

Ergonomics, appearance, keyboard

The X-10 is light (1.8kg) and has very modest dimensions: 315.5x259x23.8mm, therefore it belongs to the category of slim-notebooks. The appearance of the model is impressive, the combination of silver and black plastic makes the laptop serious and prestigious. The design is like a Porsche: the X-10 is a pleasure to touch, the surface of the model is smooth and smooth from all sides and sides. The canvas of the 14 "monitor is completely dark and looks noble. The keyboard is stylish black, the keystrokes are soft and quiet. Taking a closer look, you can find 7 function keys, including the "battery symbol" (shows the battery charge level, "?" (Newfangled and very relevant euro sign), etc. Using the function key, you can adjust the brightness of the screen and increase / decrease the sound power ...

The location of the indicators and their lighting solution are well thought out, they are all clearly visible and, at the same time, do not dazzle with too bright bulbs. Some indicators (Num Lock, Caps Lock, Scroll and HDD) is located in the upper right part of the keyboard, and two more (power and battery indicator) are brought to the front end of the laptop. In addition, on the left above the keyboard, there are indicators of the arrival of fresh Email, the built-in Wi-Fi controller and a "reset" that instantly puts the laptop into hibernation.

USB connectors are located on both sides, which is convenient when connecting a mouse; the bad thing is that there are only two such ports, but I would like to have at least 4. The lack of a COM port is upsetting, since the number of devices for it is still produced quite a lot. There is no infrared port either, which is unlikely to please the owners. mobile phones who love to access the Internet via their cell phone. Well, the rest of the input / output devices are presented in sufficient volume, there is even a slot for Memory stick cards, which allows you to quickly work with these cards.

The sound system of the laptop is an integrated two-channel solution based on the AC "97 standard. The speakers are located on the front panel and have a high power reserve, there were no wheezing at maximum volume, and the sound is consistently clear.

The cooling fan is located under the case, has a quiet character, and it turns on very rarely. Winchester behaves the same and does not make noise when working. In general, the laptop does not heat up unnecessarily. Of course, if it is specially loaded with tests, it heats up from below, but if the work is limited to office applications and the Internet, then you may not find a hot spot on a laptop.

In front of you is a manager Windows devices XP

It's funny, but the video adapter is listed as GeForce4-440 MX, although in fact it should be GeForce4-440Go. The thing is that I installed Detonator version 43, without which a good part of the game and game tests simply did not work.

Processors

We've written quite a bit about the mobile Intel Pentium-M processor, and yet a little theory won't hurt us. So the CPU is made with 0.13 micron technology, contains 77 million transistors, uses 400 MHz. system bus and has 1 MB of L2 cache. In addition to the extended cache, a mobile processor differs from a conventional processor in that it uses a number of functions for automatically lowering its power. Pentium-M can disable unused blocks in the built-in memory, and also supports advanced Intel SpeedStep technology with a choice of multiple operating frequencies and supply voltages. It is no secret that many computer applications do not use all the power of the computer during their work (for example, 400 Hz CPU is enough to watch MPEG4 video), therefore the mobile processor successfully uses this property and each time drops its frequency to the limit. That is why in various informative sources and properties one could notice that the processor frequency is only 500/600/700/1000 MHz, and not 1300 declared.

The nVidia GeForce4-460Go graphics processor is modeled after the GeForce4-460 chip (it has a memory bandwidth of 8 Gb / s, a fill rate of 1 Mtexels / s and a core clock speed of 250 MHz), but it supports a number of special technologies:

  • PowerMizer Technology - Gives notebook users control over power consumption by monitoring the power of the two most demanding parts of the system: central processing unit and LCD screen, as well as laptop power supply.
  • Enhanced Full Screen Anti-Aliasing - First introduced only in NVIDIA mobile GPUs. The effect works without any performance loss in games or 3D applications.
  • Video Processing Engine (VPE) - Improves overall system performance by taking the most resource-intensive tasks from the CPU: decoding, processing, and playing video and DVDs.

    Battery, energy saving

    First of all, one of the most important characteristics laptop - time autonomous work using the Battery Eater "2003 test, which continuously and maximally loads all the subsystems of the computer at maximum screen brightness. The X-10 has a lithium-ion battery with a capacity of only 2200 mAh. This is very, very small considering that most mobile manufacturers Centrino PCs don't hesitate to install 4000-6000mAh batteries.

    The Battery Eater test was able to fully discharge the X-10 in 42 minutes. In normal office work (Internet + Word), the user can count on a maximum of one and a half hours of battery life when the power saving function is turned on. Watching a movie and playing a video game with the same parameters can be enjoyed for no more than an hour. The result is disastrous, but one should bear in mind that this problem can be solved by alternating the use of several power supplies (which is somewhat inconvenient) or replacing it with a more powerful "battery".

    Classic tests

    To establish the performance of the X-10, the classic tests were carried out in two modes: 1) when working with a mains connection; 2) for mobile use using battery power saving mode. The settings are standard.

    3dMark, marks (1024x768)

    According to the tests, two conclusions can be drawn: 1) built-in graphics processor The GeForce4-460 handles the gaming load perfectly; 2) Pentium M processor is perfectly optimized for power saving function and can reduce its power by half with a total performance loss of up to 35%. I will also note the X-10's real endurance. I deliberately left the X-10 on for the whole night (over 6 hours) with the 3DMark test cycle "2001. By the morning I found that the benchmark was still working. This stability indicates a balanced hardware (although initially there was no doubt about it).

    I did not run the SysMark 2002 test, so it is clear that the X-10 user will not have any problems with office applications. But he gave the main tests from SiSoftware Sandra in order to compare the power of the laptop in question with various desktop systems.

    Draw your own conclusions. In my opinion, the results are quite decent. The performance of the X-10 is about the same as a desktop Pentium4 1.6 GHz + GeForce4-440 MX, which is very, very good for a mobile PC.

    Game tests

    As an avid gamer, I put a lot of emphasis on video games, playing classics from a variety of genres on the X-10. To determine the performance, I used the Fraps utility, which displays the number of frames per second (fps) on the screen. All games were launched when maximum settings and a resolution of 1024x768. And here's what I got:

    In principle, all modern games on this laptop can be played comfortably, given that the settings can be lowered to medium and minimum levels. I didn’t do any anti-aliasing tests. on a TFT screen, the picture is obtained practically without ladders (the effect of hardware full-screen anti-aliasing is evident, as we discussed above).

    conclusions

    Overall, the Samsung X-10 / 1.3G is a very attractive and highly productive laptop that can replace a desktop computer in office and multimedia applications, including complex 3D games. For true mobility, the model lacks only the presence of a more capacious battery, which would make it an excellent assistant during long journeys. Another limiting factor is the high price, which can scare off even a middle-class businessman who can buy a more solid, in his opinion, system for the same money. Fortunately, these shortcomings can only be temporary, which we will hope for. And finally, once again, all the pros and cons:

      Disadvantages:
    • weak battery power;
    • lack of an infrared port;
    • the presence of only two USB ports;
    • high price of $ 2,000.
      Dignity
    • excellent design;
    • lightness and small size;
    • clear and loud sound from built-in speakers;
    • noiselessness;
    • excellent performance in office and gaming applications.
  • SAMSUNG X10 line of laptops based on Intel Centrino technology, presented at Russian market in May 2003, was first shown at the March CeBIT 2003 exhibition. Not long before this event, numerous premieres of these notebooks took place in most European countries, as well as in China and Hong Kong. Thus, the SAMSUNG X10 series appeared almost immediately after the announcement of Centrino technology.

    At first sight

    The first thing that catches your eye when you look at the SAMSUNG X10 laptop is its original, stylish design. Unlike laptops of this class of domestic manufacturers, which for the most part are made on the same MITAC platform and differ from each other only in logos, the SAMSUNG X10 laptop has a unique, inimitable design. The laptop is made in a silver case with a metallic tint, and, apparently, made of a lightweight durable alloy. The quality of the paint coating of the case seems to be quite reliable, in any case, you can be sure that after a while the case will not be scratched. Of course, it would be wrong to reduce the uniqueness of the design of SAMSUNG X10 laptops only to the stylish appearance. The advantages of this model are its ultra-thin body and low weight, which is combined with high performance and functionality. With an LCD size of 14.1 inches ( work permit 1024x768 dots) the thickness of the model does not exceed 23.8 mm, and the weight is 1.8 kg.

    It should be borne in mind that in their own functionality a laptop can quite compete with a full-size workstation (see Table 1).

    The secret of such a thin case is that the laptop uses an LCD display with a thickness of no more than 5.2 mm and a combo DVD / CD-RW drive with a thickness of 9.5 mm of our own production.

    We note right away that the laptop has passed all the necessary stages of Intel certification, that is, it is rightfully considered a laptop based on Intel Centrino technology. Recall that in order to obtain such a certificate, it is necessary that all three mandatory platform components are present in a laptop: an Intel Pentium M processor, an Intel 855 chipset, and an Intel PRO / Wireless LAN 2100 wireless module of the IEEE 802.11b standard.

    Built SAMSUNG X10 laptop based on Intel 855PM chipset. In the basic configuration, the laptop is supplied with an Intel Pentium M processor with a clock speed of 1.3 GHz (model SAMSUNG X10 1300) and 512 MB of DDR266 RAM. Also in the line of laptops there are models with a processor clock speed of up to 1.6 GHz. The SAMSUNG X10 has a 60 GB Fujitsu hard drive.

    The laptop is equipped with the high-performance graphics engine NVIDIA Ge Force 4 440 (64MB DDR memory).

    The functionality of SAMSUNG X10 is emphasized by a large number of various I / O ports. So, the laptop is equipped with two USB ports 2.0 ports located on the left and right side panels, a VGA connector for an external monitor, an S-Video connector, an IEEE-1394 interface connector and a PCMCIA type II slot. In addition, there is an RJ-45 connector for connecting to an external 10 / 100Base-TX Ethernet network and an RJ-11 connector for connecting to telephone line integrated modem. On top of that, the front panel of the laptop houses a memory stick flash card reader (card reader), as well as headphone, microphone and S / PDIF optical audio out jacks.

    It should be noted also the convenient two-button touch screen(TouchРad) with scrolling, for which special software is supplied with the laptop, which allows you to lock the screen, adjust its sensitivity, etc.

    The communication capabilities of the SAMSUNG X10 laptop are provided network controller Ethernet 10 / 100Base-TX 3Com 3C920, wireless adapter to connect to wireless network 802.11b and software modem.

    The LED indicators on the front of the laptop are divided into two groups. Four indicators are located above the keyboard and are accessible only when the laptop is open, and two more indicators - turning on the laptop and the battery level - are located on the front edge of the bezel.

    To activate or block the wireless module, there is a special button with a light indicator. This allows you to scan the wireless network as needed, which significantly saves power consumption in battery mode.

    The SAMSUNG X10 laptop uses a battery with a passport capacity of 24 420 mWh. This low battery capacity is due to its small size. It is simply impossible to fit a large battery in such a thin case, so the manufacturers installed a rather miniature battery in the laptop, which, of course, has its negative consequences: there is no need to expect that such a small battery capacity will provide long-term battery life. However, it is necessary to make a reservation and clarify that we are talking about a standard battery. Optionally, you can purchase a battery of increased capacity, which is slightly larger in size and has a capacity of 48,840 mWh.

    The BIOS of the SAMSUNG X10 laptop is not very powerful. In any case, the strict setting of the power consumption modes (Maximum Performance Mode, Automatic Mode, Battery-Optimized Performance Mode, Maximum Battery Mode) provided by the Enhanced Intel SpeedStep technology is not implemented in the BIOS. The only option available is to disable or activate Enhanced Intel SpeedStep Technology. However, here, too, everything is not as obvious as we would like. To activate Enhanced Intel SpeedStep technology, you must set the Gv3 Enable value for the Intel Speed Step parameter. This is because the Enhanced Intel SpeedStep technology was previously known under the code name Geyservill III, which, although rarely, is still used today. So, after Enhanced Intel SpeedStep technology is activated, the power consumption mode is set through the Power Schemes settings in the Power Options dialog box. Note that when the Intel Speed Step parameter is set to Disable (that is, blocking the Enhanced Intel SpeedStep technology), regardless of the choice of the power scheme, the processor operates at 600 MHz, not 1300 MHz, which, in principle, is not entirely logical.

    Testing methodology

    Since the SAMSUNG X10 laptop on the Intel Centrino platform implements the Enhanced Intel SpeedStep energy saving technology, which, in fact, is an integral part of Intel processor Pentium M, then the question arose, under what conditions to conduct testing - when this technology is activated or blocked? On the one hand, the concept of Intel Centrino technology is precisely to provide the user with maximum mobility, that is, the possibility of an unprecedented long work in autonomous mode (from battery). This opportunity is provided by the latest energy saving technologies (Enhanced Intel SpeedStep, Deeper Sleep, IMVP, etc.) implemented at the processor and chipset levels. On the other hand, the use of energy-saving technologies cannot but affect the performance of the laptop.

    Performance and battery life are sort of two poles that limit the potential of a laptop. At the same time, the user should have a choice, which is more important for him in this moment: Get maximum performance at the expense of battery life, or, conversely, maximum battery life at the expense of performance. In addition, laptops do not always function in standalone mode, and when working from an external network, the use of energy saving technologies is meaningless, therefore, in this mode, the factor of maximum performance is of paramount importance.

    In order to evaluate the laptop's capabilities in both maximum performance and maximum power saving modes, we conducted tests with both Enhanced Intel SpeedStep technology enabled and disabled.

    Testing conducted under operating room control Windows systems XP Pro SP1 ( English version). In addition, all the latest Windows XP Hotfix (SP2) available at the time of testing were installed on the laptop. Also the setting was carried out operating system for maximum performance. Additional utilities and drivers were used:

    Intel Chipset Software Installation Utility version 5.0.0.1018;

    Intel Application Accelerator version 2.2.0.2126.

    The laptop was tested with a working resolution of the matrix (1024Ѕ768 pixels) and a color depth of 32 bits.

    For testing the SAMSUNG X10 laptop, we used the Future Mark MobileMark 2002 test suite.

    The MobileMark 2002 benchmark was run in the Battery and Performance Test mode to measure the notebook's office productivity (performance rating) and battery life.

    To achieve the best performance mode in the Windows XP operating system, the Always On power scheme was installed. In addition, to obtain correct results, the monitor shutdown time was blocked, hard drives and switch to Standby mode.

    To implement the maximum power saving mode in the Windows XP operating system, the Max Battery power circuit was installed. In addition, the time for turning off the monitor and switching to Standby mode was blocked, and the time for turning off hard drives was set to 3 minutes.

    Note also that during testing the brightness of the LCD matrix was set to the minimum level, which, however, turned out to be quite enough for work.

    Test results

    The test results of the SAMSUNG X10 laptop for each of the power schemes are presented in table. 2.

    Always On Scheme

    As you would expect, the highest performance and lowest battery life follow the Always On scheme. When this scheme is selected, the processor clock frequency is set equal to the maximum value and does not change when the processor is loaded. This can be verified using the System Monitor utility included with the Windows XP operating system.

    Not so long ago, Mobile World Congress 2018 took place, where the new flagship of the company, the Galaxy S9, was presented. However, users did not have time to study all the features of the new item, as they are already eager to know everything about the future of the Samsung Galaxy S10. There are already a lot of rumors and all kinds of leaks on the network, but we will try to find out what is true and what is fake.

    First of all, it is worth paying attention to the rumor about solid-state batteries in the next generation devices. According to technical parameters, such batteries have an increased reserve of energy consumption in a smaller size, and also do not overheat or explode, unlike conventional lithium-ion batteries. Despite all the brilliance of the development, the introduction of such a battery in the Samsung S10 may slightly slow down the release date of the smartphone. According to the company, the developers have not yet fully explored all the nuances of the technology.

    It is also known that the company intends to move away from the Galaxy S name in a different direction. At the moment, there are speculations that the new flagship will be called Galaxy X or some similar name. Obviously, this is due to the new design that the future smartphone will have.

    Galaxy S10 release date

    By tradition, all devices of the Galaxy S line will be presented at Mobile World Congress, which takes place in the first quarter. Accordingly, expect the future flagship not earlier than the period of January-March next year.

    Samsung Galaxy S10 will be officially presented on February 20, 2019.

    Dee Jay Koh, who is the head of the mobile division of the Korean company, said that most likely, the name of the future "Galaxy" will be slightly changed. It should be noted that the line itself will remain called Galaxy, but its one-letter name “S” will be replaced with something else.

    Similar Samsung solution already taken in the case of the ruler budget smartphones Galaxy A, when all the available Core, Prime, Mini and other brothers were combined into one "A". Looks like now it's time for a name change flagship smartphones... Let's hope that with the new name the smartphone will get a new look.

    Again, do not forget the possible delay in the official release of the Galaxy S10 due to the introduction and testing of a new type of batteries. The company certainly doesn't want a repeat of the old battery exploding incident.

    Specifications Samsung Galaxy S10

    The exact characteristics of the Galaxy S10 are not yet known, however, there are already quite a few leaks and insights about the screen, processor, camera, RAM and some features. We invite you to familiarize yourself with them.

    • Screen- 4K Ultra HD Super AMOLED
    • CPU- 7nm Qualcomm Snapdragon of the latest generation at the time of launch of the smartphone (presumably Snapdragon 855).
    • Camera- main (18 megapixels), front (10 megapixels, dual with optical stabilization and phase detection autofocus).
    • RAM- 6 GB, memory type - LPDDR5.
    • Main memory- 64, 256 or 512 GB.
    • Battery- ~ 3800 mAh.
    • Networks- 2G / 3G / 4G / 5G (600-700 MHz).

    At the moment, that's all that is known. However, even this list is not accurate, so take everything with a grain of salt. But, having this list, it is worth considering in detail each item, as well as some of the specifications of the future flagship.

    Screen

    In a future smartphone, we expect a 4K Ultra HD Super AMOLED display that will cover at least 93% the entire front panel of the device. In addition, Samsung continues to spread rumors about a patent for a flexible display that will apparently be used in the Galaxy S10.

    The point is that the new "Galaxy" can acquire a screen that will cover the front, one side and part of the rear panel. The display itself will be made in a single form factor, which, according to the design idea, should “envelop” the smartphone. The corresponding photos are already on the Internet.

    A similar idea has already been implemented in the Meizu Pro 7, which has 2 displays. The second screen is for displaying notifications and hours. In addition, the rear display of the Meizu Pro 7 has found its use as a selfie mirror. However, the rear screen was separate, and not a single whole with the bezel, but the developers' idea turned out to be quite interesting. We hope that Samsung will be able to bring the flexible display patent into practice, and the Samsung S10 will become a truly revolutionary and new device in every sense.

    Processor, RAM, network

    As befits all flagships, the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S10 will have top-of-the-line specs to meet all user needs. It is expected that the heart of the device will be the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 series, made by 7nm process technology... Qualcomm will probably create this processor in cooperation with Samsung specialists.

    The amount of RAM and user memory is still only a guess. Obviously, the user will be allocated about 256 GB for storing applications, photos, videos and other multimedia data. Perhaps there will be a version of the smartphone with 512 GB of memory on board. It is not known exactly how much RAM the future Galaxy S10 will have. However, in the plans Samsung use chips with the LPDDR5 type, which are significantly superior to the current LPDDR4.

    It is also known that the Samsung Galaxy S10 will definitely support 5G generation networks. This network allows data transmission with a maximum latency of 1 millisecond at a speed of 15 GB / s. It should be noted that MTS, Megafon, Beeline and Tele2 are actively working on the 5G network in Russia. A record has already been set in which the operation of a new generation network was tested - a Huawei smartphone using 5G from Megafon reached a speed of 35 GB / s.

    Note that 4G reaches a maximum speed of 1 GB / s with a 10 millisecond latency. Presumably, the Russians will be able to enjoy the new speed no earlier than mid-2018.

    Design

    What can distinguish the Samsung S10 from the crowd of Chinese copies? That's right, a design that will surpass all critics' expectations. If the Korean experts, nevertheless, call new smartphone Galaxy X, then it should clearly outperform its direct competitor, the iPhone X.

    Given that the future device will have a curved display, which was written about earlier, you can roughly imagine a new design. It should be a monolithic block with curved side bezels like the Galaxy S9; the screen occupies almost the entire front panel - at least 93%; from the front, the display goes through one side frame to the rear panel; no buttons other than the power / lock key.

    Battery

    In the question of battery capacity Samsung devices have no complaints. All-day battery life active use devices - 4G, games, viewing and shooting 4K video and prolonged use of the device at maximum display brightness, which should significantly “exhaust” the smartphone.

    However, in recent times Korean experts are actively working on a new, solid-state type of batteries. This is evidenced by all sorts of reports, as well as news from Samsung. The plans of the developers include the introduction of new batteries into their wearable gadgets, and then the mass production of solid-state batteries for electric cars. According to experts, this will increase the charge capacity, while the dimensions of the battery will be quite compact.

    For the future Galaxy S10, this is at least another couple of hours of work and minus a couple of centimeters in the thickness of the device. However, there is no exact data on this yet. Therefore, we can only hope for the success of the developers for the release of the smartphone.

    Galaxy S10 features

    Design, screen and new processor alone will not be able to win the top sales. Therefore, Samsung Galaxy S10 simply must have its own characteristics. Everyone knows that Samsung has been working on introducing a fingerprint scanner into the device's display for a long time. However, so far it has not been possible to achieve desired result... According to critics, by the release of the Galaxy S10, Korean developers should complete work on the in-display fingerprint scanner.

    In addition, do not forget that Samsung has not yet introduced its analogue of Face ID technology, which is popular with iPhone X users. The iris and face scanner, even in simultaneous tandem, does not provide the comfort of use that provides Apple... Compare security of Face ID and face and iris scanner Samsung eyes just doesn't make sense - alas, the fruity winner is clear.

    Also, there is information that the Samsung S10 will hide speakers under its display - both spoken and stereo. This is evidenced by Samsung data who talk about new development company specialists. Judging by the experts' opinion, with the right approach of the developers, the result should come out with a “wow” effect. In this case, the maximum volume of the device should not be affected. We hope that everything will be successful in Korean laboratories.

    Despite the demands of users to make the future flagship extremely frameless, the company still faces some difficulties even at the concept stage. In particular, by abandoning the bezels, the device runs the risk of being left without room for the front camera. According to experts, in order to position the camera matrix for selfies, at least 3-5 millimeters must be allocated at the top of the device. Accordingly, the Galaxy S10 will not be so bezel-less. At least at the top, for sure.

    The solution to this problem could be a mechanical retractable front camera module. However, Korean experts cut it off at the concept stage, explaining that with such a module, the risk of device breakdowns increases. Also, implement in New Product something mechanical while all over the world they are more and more abandoning it - an absurdity.

    We left the most interesting for dessert. Perhaps the S10 will implement a revolutionary single-chip system of work in a single bundle of a processor, a graphics module and a neural network chip. Such a module will significantly speed up the operation of the entire system, as well as its overall performance and efficiency. The work of specialists on this technology is most closely watched by critics and tech bloggers.

    Samsung Galaxy S10 price in Russia and in the world

    Taking into account all the features of development, new components and production costs, the cost of the Samsung Galaxy S10 in Russia should start at 56,990 rubles. For other CIS countries, it may traditionally slightly increase due to local legal peculiarities. However, it is unlikely that it will be higher than $ 1,100 in equivalent.

    Samsung has been playing with the idea of foldable smartphones for nearly a decade. It was eight years ago when they first showcased a flexible display, but it's finally ready to turn the concept into reality. We've got news from China that the Galaxy X will launch later this year.

    Release date and price

    It's been a tough year for Samsung with Galaxy Note 7 troubles and a corruption scandal in Korea, but according to GSM Arena and SamMobile, the company has managed to work on an exciting innovation, codenamed Valley Project, and not just focus on incremental improvements. technical characteristics their devices.

    It is likely that the Galaxy X will not be popular right away, but if it proves to be popular, we could see more flexible screen models in the future. Samsung can integrate this technology into their flagship devices if users accept the technology and there is significant market demand.

    Design

    The overall design of the Galaxy X may contain Galaxy-specific elements we're all used to, but we don't know what might change due to the flexible screen. The camera, buttons, and placement of the fingerprint scanner can really affect appearance devices. General form will obviously change and the rounded edges can make the device more ergonomic.

    Having a device with a display size that can fit in your pocket would be cool, but then the price of such a device due to manufacturing and R&D costs could make it unaffordable for most consumers. It remains to be seen whether the Galaxy X will sell well or poorly.

    We know Samsung is working on flexible phones based on their patents, and we think the device will most likely come out in 2017, but now we have confirmation from China that the Galaxy X will launch in the third or fourth quarter of this year.

    Galaxy X: Display

    The Galaxy X will have a 4K display (according to SamMobile), but not much else is known about the display specification. Rumor has it that the display area will extend beyond the front of the device to the edges, as we may have seen on the Galaxy S7 Edge.

    Everyone wants to have big screen, but no one is comfortable with it. Flexible screens will help solve this paradox in the world of smartphones.

    Below you can see the patent for the flexible screen. This is what we mean when we talk about the Galaxy X. In fact, you can bend the screen without breaking it in half, and that makes it useful. The lifespan of this type of screen can be a real problem. Constant bending and pressure can damage the screen, especially if you sit with your phone in your back pocket. I hope Samsung will be able to design a model of behavior for an ordinary user and we will see a decent device in the smartphone market.

    Success story or failure of Samsung with flexible screens?

    Below you can see an old example of Samsung's attempts to bend the screen. Could the Galaxy X also be so bulky, or will it be a slim and sleek smartphone? The success of an idea depends on execution and Samsung's ability to design according to user needs.

    Galaxy X: Features

    Galaxy X is likely to be implemented biometric technologies for security, including a conventional fingerprint scanner, face recognition and iris scanner.
