Wifi works d link. How to set up a D-Link Wi-Fi router: step by step instructions

Routers under the D-Link brand are among the most popular in Russia. Their main advantages are low price, reliability, providing a sufficiently high speed of Internet access.

The series routers gained particular popularity in the Russian Federation. D-Link DIR: 620, 2640U, 320, 615, 300 equipped with Wi-Fi module. In turn, from wired devices, the D-Link DIR 2500U device is popular. How is the D-Link DIR router configured, depending on the modification? Are there noticeable differences in working with devices of different series?

It can be noted that, regardless of which particular modification the router released by D-Link belongs to, the device is configured according to similar algorithms. At the same time, setting the necessary options when working with almost any modem D-Link series- a fairly simple procedure. However, there are particular features for each device. And therefore, we study them, studying the specifics of working with each device of the marked series.

Router D-Link 620

Consider how the D-Link 620 router is configured. As part of this manual we will connect the Internet, which is accessed via an Ethernet channel. First of all, thus, we connect the appropriate cable to the appropriate port on the router for it.

The next step is to configure the software part of the connection interface on the PC. To do this, you need to enter the "Control Panel" of the operating Windows systems, then select " Network connections". Then we find the network card (or select the one that is used to connect to the Internet), press the right mouse button, select "Properties". Next - left-click on the "TCP / IP Protocol" item. Select "Properties". We set the settings "automatically" in all items.

The next step is to connect the PC network card and one of the free ports of the router using an Ethernet wire ( given type cable is typical when connecting to the Internet via a network card).

Next, open a window of any browser, for example, Internet Explorer, Opera or Google Chrome- not important, the functionality of the required interface does not depend on the type of program used. Enter the following command in the address bar - 192.168.0.1, press the Enter key. After that, the user enters the router control window. You will need to enter a username and password. In most cases, when setting up a D-Link router, you need to enter admin in both fields. This is a universal login and password programmed at the factory for devices of the type in question.

After entering the router control area, select the tab called "Network". Next, click on "Connections", after - on the icon WAN connections. On the page that loads after clicking on WAN, you will need to make sure that the checkboxes for obtaining a DNS address and IP are checked. In general, you don't need to change anything on this page. Most modern Russian providers do not require that this setting of the D-Link router is somehow corrected. Rostelecom, for example, is one of them.

Next, return to the "Network" and "Connection" tab. Click "Add". After that, you will need to enter the settings that the provider operating in a particular city must provide (moreover, they may differ for houses located in different parts of the village). After entering the desired values, click "Save".

Wi-Fi setup specifics

As a rule, if the D-Link router is configured, WiFi can also be activated. In order to enable wireless module device, you must again select the "Network" tab, then "Wi-Fi". In the window that opens, enter the name of the network - any convenient for the user, in Latin letters. You can also set maximum amount devices simultaneously connected to the router (“clients”). For example, if a person uses three devices - say, a PC, a laptop and a smartphone, then you can enter the number 3.

Next, select the "Security Settings" tab. We set up authentication through the WPA2 / PSK mixed standard (mixed type of protection) - it is considered one of the most reliable. We choose TKIP + AES encryption, since this option is recognized by many IT experts as optimal in terms of network security. After - enter the password. Its minimum length is 8 characters. However, IT experts recommend that you enter a longer password. It should also be, if possible, complex - such that it is difficult to guess. Using a password, you can control access to a Wi-Fi network, telling it only to those people who are entitled to use the Internet to which the owner of the router is connected.

Note that the Wi-Fi setup, the main nuances of which we noted, is generally carried out according to the same principles when working with other routers of the series in question.

After all the settings, click "System", after - "Save and restart". This completes the configuration of the D-Link 620 router. After a few minutes, you can start using the Internet. If something does not work, it is advisable to contact the provider's support service.

As a rule, if the connection to the network was successful, then once the fixed settings of the router should ensure the correct operation of the entire system and subsequently. At the same time, in some cases, one or another type of technological upgrades may occur on the side of the Internet provider, which may predetermine the need to adjust the operation of the router. In this case, the user will likely need to communicate with the service provider to determine the best settings for the device.

Setting up the D-Link 2500U device

Let's now consider how the D-Link 2500U router, another popular device, is configured. From the point of view of working with Windows programming interfaces, the algorithm of actions is the same - you need to make sure that in the settings of the network card there are checkmarks in front of the items about obtaining a DNS address and IP automatically.

As in the case of the previous router, we connect all the wires, and then enter 192.168.1.1 into the browser line. The username and password will be admin. In most cases, the menu of the router of this brand is English. To start setting up an Internet connection, click the WAN tab. We select the Add button ("add"), after which we get to the settings page itself. Here, as in the previous case, we need data from the provider. The values of both VPI and VCI may differ, thus, not only between different cities, but also between districts of the same locality. After the user has entered the necessary settings, you can click Next.

On the page that opens, select the correct type network protocol also in consultation with the provider. For many Russian providers of Internet access services, the PPP over Ethernet mode is typical, regarding the Encapsulation Mode ("encapsulation format") - the LLC / SNAP-BRIDGING option. Click Next.

The next window, of course, will also require knowledge of data that can only be provided by the provider - this is a login and password. The remaining options on the page, as a rule, do not need to be adjusted (unless the provider's support service advises otherwise). Click Next.

Setting up the D-Link router of the series in question usually does not require adjusting the items on the page that opens, but it does not hurt to consult with the provider regarding this issue. If technical support specialists do not give any recommendations, click Next. After going to the next page - Apply ("apply settings"). After loading the next interface, click the Finish button, wait until the device reboots. After a few minutes, you can try to use the Internet. If something does not work out, we call technical support.

Despite the fact that this router is not equipped with a Wi-Fi module, it is recognized by many experts as a reliable and easy-to-use device. At the same time, as is the case with many other D-Link devices, in the event of a change in Internet access technologies by the provider, the user may need to learn new settings directly from the communication service provider.

Working with D-Link 2640U modem

Let's now study how the D-Link 2640U router is configured. The first steps in working with this device will be the same as in the case of previous devices - install through the "Control Panel" operating system Windows automatic getting DNS address and IP.

Further, as when setting up previous routers, we enter the modem settings panel through the browser. The address will look like this - 192.168.1.1. Login and password will be the same - admin. Router setup interface this case, will probably be Russian-speaking. Select "Network" and then "Connections". Click the "Add" button.

The most likely "connection type" is PPPoE. Much less commonly used connection in the format of "bridge" ("Bridge").

Next, we prescribe the VPI and VCI settings - we, as in previous cases, will learn from the provider. Similarly, we ask the service provider for a login and password (by the way, they are often indicated in subscription agreement- you can try to find them there). It is recommended to activate the Keep Alive option. Regarding indicators for LCP, it is also recommended to find out their optimal values from the provider. But, as a rule, it is optimal to set the number 15 in the “interval” item, and 2 in the “dips” option. Also, activate IGMP. Press the "Save" button.

Now let's move on to working with another important function, which includes setting up a D-link router - WiFi. To do this, press, respectively, Wi-Fi button, hereinafter - "basic settings". We write the desired network name, then set the encryption standard - just like in the case of the D-Link 620 modem, this is WPA2-PSK, enter the password for the network. We save the settings. Then click "System". Next, choose Save and Reload. After a few minutes we try to use the Internet.

Setting up a D-Link 320 and 300 modem

Let's study how the D-Link 320 router is configured. It is noteworthy that the model with the 300 index is configured in almost the same way. The first steps - as usual, we connect the wires, in Windows settings We set the automatic receipt of the DNS address and IP. Open the browser, enter address bar 192.168.0.1. The login and password, as in previous cases, are the same - admin, we get into the web interface of the router control panel. As a rule, it is immediately proposed to change the password set by default at the factory to a user one. You can make an appropriate replacement if you wish.

Next, select the "Network" menu item, then - "Connections". Click "Add". The main settings window will open. There we select the desired connection type (as a rule, it is PPPoE). In the “PPP Setup” item, enter the login and password, which, as in previous cases, can be requested from the provider or, alternatively, found in the subscription agreement. The MTU value will also need to be checked with the network access provider, in many cases this figure is 1492. In general, these are all the settings that need to be made. We save the parameters.

Next, we need to set up Wi-Fi. Select the appropriate item in the menu. Enter the desired name of the wireless network, configure security. As in previous cases, select the WPA2-PSK encryption standard, enter the password. Click "Change". Then select "System", then "Save". As we noted above, the D-Link 300 router is configured using almost the same algorithms. This device and D-Link 320 are actually devices of the same line.

Setting up the D-Link 615 modem

Consider how the D-Link 615 router is configured. First, we do everything that we did when working with previous modems: we connect the wires, set the automatic receipt of the DNS address and IP in the Windows interfaces. Next - go to the browser, enter 192.168.0.1 in the address bar. Enter admin in the username and password fields. The system may offer to change the relevant data - if desired, we carry out the replacement.

A distinctive specificity that characterizes this released D-link router is the setting wireless connection desirable in the first place. To implement it, you need to press the SETUP button in the start menu of the device control panel. Next, select Wireless Settings ("Wireless Network Settings"). After - Manual Wireless Connection Setup ("Establishing a wireless connection manually").

Next, it is important to set the correct wireless connection parameters. So, regarding the PROTECTED SETUP item, it is advisable to uncheck the Enable option. However, you should make sure that the box next to the options Enable Wireless and Always ("permanent mode") is checked. In the Network Name item, enter a name for the network. Set mixed - mixed - type for 802.11 communication protocol. Regarding the security settings, Security Mode, it is optimal to set the WPA-Personal parameter. In the Cipher Type item, select AES. Next, enter the password (Pre-Shared Key) for the wireless network. After checking the correctness of all parameters, save the settings by clicking the "Save" button.

Having set up wireless network, you can proceed to work with options related, in fact, to connecting to the Internet. Press the SETUP button, then Internet, after Manual Internet Connection Setup. In the menu that opens, we have to specify the communication protocol used (most likely it will be PPPoE), login and password (we ask the provider, look in the subscription agreement). You can also customize additional parameter by clicking on Clone MAC Address. Connect Mode Select should be set to Always On. The recommended MTU value should be obtained from the provider, most likely it will be 1472. After checking the correctness of the settings, click Save Settings, after which the router will save the settings and reboot. After a few minutes, you can try to start using the Internet.

Features of configuring D-Link modems

If we have at our disposal a router released by D-Link, the configuration of this device, as a rule, is performed within the framework of very simple algorithms, which are generally similar for all device models. What features can be distinguished in relation to the configuration of devices of the types we have considered?

First of all, we note that, along with knowledge of the router configuration algorithm, information from the provider will be no less useful for us - and this main feature work with devices. Step by step setup D-Link router in any modification requires the relevant data. If they are not at hand, then connecting to the Internet will be problematic, since the spread of indicators that determine the technological specifics of connecting to the network is very large in practice, it is not easy to guess the right one. Knowing the specifics of the standards used by the provider is an extremely important aspect; without it, it is difficult to correctly configure the D-Link router. Beeline, Rostelecom, other major suppliers, as well as various operators, can be characterized by tangible differences in technological approaches. But, as a rule, the provider's support service is open for communication with the user. Her specialist usually always reports the desired settings.

What other features does a router released under the D-Link brand have? Setting up devices within the series we have considered, as we found out, at the very first stages of working with devices requires entering a login and password. They are usually standard, sound like admin. But it may well turn out that the user will have a device with changed login and password settings. Which he may not know. But it's not a problem.

Reset

It is enough to carry out a hardware "reset" of all router settings. To do this, press the RESET button, which is located at the back of the case. That is, in the same place as the connectors for connecting cables. Before pressing it, be sure to turn off the power to the device. After pressing, you should wait about a minute before working with the device again. After the user has reset the D-Link router settings, the factory login and password - admin - should work.

Please note that when resetting to factory settings using the RESET button, all settings are canceled, including, in particular, those that are responsible for accessing the wireless network. Therefore, if, for example, in the process of restoring working options, the user sets New password on Wi-Fi, then he may need to tell it to people who used the network before, knowing only the former. Also, if, for example, devices such as a TV with Smart TV support or a set-top box were connected to the device via Wi-Fi, then the corresponding settings in them will also need to be updated if the password in the router is new.

Saving settings

The devices of the series under consideration have a useful function of saving settings (with the possibility of their subsequent restoration in case of failures). To do this, you need to set the correct settings using the router's web management interface and make sure that the Internet works with them. You can then save these settings. To do this, in the main menu of the control panel of the router, select the TOOLS button, then SYSTEM. To save the settings to a file on the computer disk, click Save Configuration, and then select the desired location in file system. It is also useful to make a copy of the saved file on another medium, such as a USB flash drive. In order, in turn, to restore the settings, then, having entered the same area of the router control panel, you should click the "Browse" button (if the version of the operating system is Russian), and then specify the file with the settings that was previously written to disk or to a flash drive. After - click Restore Configuration Settings. Then you need to reboot the router by pressing the Reboot button. Also, using this interface, you can restore the factory settings by pressing the Restore Device button - the effect will be the same as when you press the RESET button on the device case.

Reboot required

The peculiarity of the devices of the series in question is that when changing the settings, the device must be rebooted every time. That is, if, for example, some important file is downloaded from the Internet, and at the same time a disconnection is undesirable, it is better not to change the router settings, but wait until the necessary information is loaded. Also, it may turn out that some other person is connected to the network via Wi-Fi, and for him the forced shutdown of the Internet may also be undesirable. Therefore, we wait until the router is free from use, and only after that we make the necessary adjustments in the settings.

A link router, as well as other similar routers, is used to create a wireless network through which other wi-fi devices connect to the Internet or a local network. For this he needs wired connection to the Internet via a modem.

Users with little experience may experience some difficulties when connecting a wi-fi router to Windows. D link, in comparison with other manufacturers of routers, has a more convenient system of router configuration settings, thanks to which, even very far from computer technology people will be able to set it up correctly.

In terms of price-quality ratio, d link devices occupy a leading position in the wi-fi router market. In general, this company specializes in the development and production of network equipment, so its leadership in this area is well deserved.

One of the factors determining the choice by users of equipment manufactured by this company is a large selection alternative firmware that significantly improve performance. High-quality support for their products also determines the choice of the buyer in favor of d link wi fi router devices.

Installation and connection

So, you are the proud owner of a d link router.

First, unpack the device. In the kit, in addition to the router itself, there should be a pair of cables for connecting to the Internet and connecting to Ethernet. How to connect a d link router and also configure it?

To connect a d link wi fi router, you need to follow these steps:

Instructions, power supply, patch cord, cd disk, router

  1. We connect an Ethernet cable to the DSL modem, its other end is connected via the WAN port to the router itself.
  2. We connect the PC to the router with the second Ethernet cable, for this you can use any Ethernet port of the router.
  3. The basic configuration of the router is configured using the web interface. In the browser, type the following in the address bar: 192.168.0.1
  4. On the page that opens, you will be asked to create a username and password for it. It’s easier to use the “Admin” login, and leave the password column empty.
  5. We press enter, a window appears in which the configuration of the d link router is configured.

To configure a remote link router and a wireless network security system, you need to do the following:

  1. Change the password for access to the administrative menu. This is done in the "Tools" menu. In it, select the "Admin" tab, in which we enter the password.
  2. Next, we need to temporarily disable the wireless network.
  3. The next step is to turn on the wireless network data protection (WEP protocol). This is done in the tab "Home" - "Wireless" - "OpenSystem". Turn on "WEP", set the key for protection "128 Bit". Set the key type to "ASCII", in the field for the first key you need to type a password. In order to increase the degree of protection, you need to change the SSID. It's in the same tab. After completing these steps, save the settings.

A considerable number of users are skeptical about the WEP security protocol. Preference in such cases is given to the latest, advanced developments, such as WPA and WPA II. The latter will allow you to protect your wireless network as much as possible. You can set up WPA II as follows. Open the "Wireless Security Mode" tab and click on the enable the corresponding function.

You will need to define an encryption algorithm. This is done in the "WPA Personal" window. The AES algorithm is considered the most progressive, for this reason it is better to choose it. After that, the type is selected. For home use, the PSK type will be the most acceptable, requiring a password to be entered on all connected devices. EAP type is used by corporate users, it is better protected. In fact, it is a combination of different methods.

MAC address filtering is configured as follows:

1. We go into the configuration settings window, then go through the advanced settings tab, where we select "Filters"

2. Select the MAC filter, set the list of PC addresses connecting to your wireless network.

Setting up a d link 2540u router

First you need to set up the TCP/IP protocol on the PC. To do this, using the example of WINDOWS XP, open the Start menu - Settings - Control Panel - Network Connections.

  1. IP address: 192.168.1.2
  2. Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
  3. Default gateway: 192.168.1.1
  4. Preferred DNS Server: 195.34.31.50
  5. Alternate DNS Server: 62.112.106.130

We save and exit.

After making sure that the device is correctly connected to the PC, open the browser and enter in the address bar: 192.168.1.1. A page will appear asking you to enter your username and password. After these details are entered, click OK.

We hope that the material given in this article will help you install the d link router and configure it correctly.

This manual will discuss in detail how to configure the D-Link DIR-300 Wi-Fi router. In particular, we will talk about how to update the firmware on the router and why it is sometimes required, how to set up an Internet connection and what types of connections are used by different providers. It will also cover issues such as setting up a wireless point WiFi access how to put a password on a wireless network and connect various devices. At the same time, a video lesson on setting up the DIR-300 router will also be offered.

Wireless router (Wi-Fi router) D-Link DIR-300

Update: If your router is running firmware 2.5.11 or 2.15.19 (generally 2.5.x), and the settings interface is similar to the screenshot below, use this instruction: .

What should be done before setting up the router (router)

Even before you connect the router for its subsequent configuration, I recommend downloading the latest firmware file for your hardware revision.

What is a hardware revision? Despite the common name of the routers and the same appearance, D-Link DIR-300 are different. Here is a list of those that can be found on sale today:

  • DIR-300A/C1
  • DIR-300NRU B5/B6
  • DIR-300NRU B7

Hardware version of the router on the sticker

Each of them requires its own firmware. The hardware revision of the router is indicated on the sticker located on its back side, in the line H / W ver. In order to download the firmware for the router, you should go to the official D-Link website at ftp.dlink.ru, and follow the following path: pub - Router - Your router model (DIR-300 or DIR-300NRU) - Firmware - hardware revision of the router. The folder you end up in will contain one bin file and an "Old" folder. The mentioned file is latest firmware specifically for your device, it should be downloaded to your computer. The Old folder contains old firmware for the router, which can also be useful in some cases ( unstable work on the new firmware).

The next action that is recommended before setting up is to reset the existing D-Link DIR-300 settings (if you have already tried to set something up yourself or if it was set up for another Internet provider). To do this, use the Reset button located on the back of the router: hold it down for 20-30 seconds, release it and wait about 30 seconds until the router reboots with factory settings.

And one more thing: in order to get into the settings panel of the router, in the properties of the local network connection, “Obtain an IP address automatically” and “Obtain an address DNS servers automatically". You can find these options in the following places:

  • Windows 8 and 7 - "Control Panel" - "Network and Control Center" public access" - "Change adapter settings" - "Local Area Connection" ( right click, properties) - "Internet Protocol Version 4" - "Properties".
  • For Windows XP, the path is similar, the only thing is that in the control panel you should go to the "Network Connections" folder, and already there you can look at the properties of the LAN connection.

In some cases and for some providers (Interzet, various service providers legal entities) those parameters that were recorded in the properties of the LAN connection (IP address, subnet mask, default gateway and DNS servers) should be written somewhere. Even a little differently: if something was indicated in all these fields, then be sure to write down this data.

Despite the fact that connecting a router, it would seem, should not cause any difficulties, quite often you have to see the wrong options. This is due to the fact that even with the wrong connection, you can achieve, for example, that one computer has the Internet and at the same time digital TV works. However, this does not make it correct, and devices connected via Wi-Fi will report that “Connection is limited or absent” or “No Internet access”. The correct connection option is in the picture below.

Thus, the cable from your ISP (or the cable coming from your modem, if you have one) must be connected to the Internet port and only to it. The network card is connected to one of the LAN ports of the router using the included RJ-45 cable (standard network cable).

Firmware DIR-300

First of all, a little about why it is better to update the firmware of the router than not to do it:

  • The DIR-300 router you bought in the store most likely has one of the first firmware versions. The manufacturer, in our case this is D-Link, regularly releases new versions that fix various errors that affect the operation of the device (connection breaks, the router cuts the speed, the settings get lost). Therefore, by updating the firmware before setting up the router, you can avoid many problems.
  • The firmware of the router itself is not particularly difficult and is available to anyone, even a “teapot”. The main thing is to have good leadership. This is exactly what is in front of you.

The first step (provided that the router is already connected) is to launch any Internet browser on the computer and enter the following address in the address bar: 192.168.0.1, then press Enter.

You will be asked to enter a username and password. The standard login and password for all D-Link DIR-300s is admin (i.e. we write the same thing in both fields - admin). After logging in, you will be asked to change your default password for security reasons. Do this so that no one else can change the settings of your wireless router.

The next thing you will see is the router configuration interface, which, depending on the hardware revision and current firmware, may have a different appearance.

This manual does not cover setting up the DIR-300 B1-B3 (they are very old and their owners, as a rule, have already learned how to set them up). Therefore, consider how to update the firmware in the last two options.

  1. For firmware 1.3, go to "Set up manually", select the "System" tab, and already in it - software update. Then you should click "Browse", specify the path to the new firmware file (how to download new firmware described earlier)
  2. For firmware 1.4, you need to select the "Advanced settings" item, then on the "System" tab, click the right arrow (shown there), select the Software Update item, then click "Browse" and specify the path to the new firmware file.
  3. Click the "Update" button

After that, it remains only to wait for the end of the router firmware process.

How to set up a connection

The essence of configuring routers, including the D-Link DIR-300, is to initialize the Internet connection by the router itself, distributing it to all other connected devices. The settings for this connection in the router interface are the main necessary action.

It should also be noted that when setting up the router, as well as after it, the previously used connection on the computer should no longer be connected. Those. if earlier you launched a Beeline, Rostelecom, Aist, TTK, Dom.ru or some other connection on your computer, now you don’t need to do this, otherwise, because the connection has already been established directly by the computer, the router most likely will not be able to establish it (in some cases it is possible to work with several parallel connections, but for most tariffs home internet- No).

Let's move on to setting up the connection. On the home page router settings at the bottom, click "Advanced Settings", then on the "Network" tab, select "WAN" and click "Add" at the bottom of the page, which will display one connection with a dynamic IP address.

Now our task is to correctly fill in all the fields correctly, while the correctness is determined by what type of connection your provider uses:

  • Online - Dynamic IP, i.e. You don’t even need to configure anything in the connection, the only thing you should take care of is the Wi-Fi password, which will be discussed below
  • Beeline - L2TP + Dynamic IP
  • Interzet - Static IP
  • Rostelecom, Domolink, TTK, Dom.ru - PPPoE
  • Stork - PPTP + Dynamic IP

Information about what type of connection your Internet provider uses can be easily found on the official website or you can look at the properties of the connection that was used on the computer to access the Internet.

In most cases, all you need to fill in besides the type of connection is the login and password that you received from the service provider, as well as the address VPN servers for providers using PPTP or L2TP connection.

After that, click "Save". And we find ourselves on a page with a newly created connection, which, as we are shown, is “broken”. Also on the top right you will see an indicator telling us that the router settings have been changed and now they need to be saved (second time). You should do this - otherwise, after rebooting the router or turning off the power, all settings will be reset. Refresh the connection list page. If you set everything up correctly, without confusing the password or type of connection, it will turn green, and the Internet will become available. You can proceed to setting up a wireless Wi-Fi network.

Setting up a Wi-Fi hotspot

In order to set up a wireless network (in fact, it is already working, but it would be better if you name it somehow and set a password for Wi-Fi), we again go to the advanced settings page of the DIR-300 router and on the Wi- Fi click on the link "Basic settings".

On the page that appears, you can specify the name of the access point SSID, by which you will recognize your wireless network among your neighbors. You can also change other parameters here, but in most cases this is not required. Save your settings.

After that, on the same Wi-Fi tab, select "Security Settings". Here we can put a password on the Wi-Fi router D-Link DIR-300. To do this, select WPA2-PSK in the "Network Authentication" field, and enter the desired password for the access point in the "PSK Encryption Key" and save the settings.

That's all, the DIR-300 router can be considered configured, now you can connect to it any devices that support Wi-Fi connection, as well as via a local network. If you are using digital television, then on the main settings page in the item " Setting up IPTV» Set one of the ports as a dedicated TV and connect a set-top box to it.

Resetting the router settings is done by pressing and holding reset buttons on the back of the router.

In order to get into the web interface of the router, you need to open your Internet browser and type http://192.168.0.1 in the address bar, Username admin, field password leave blank (provided that the router has factory settings, and his IP did not change).

Change the factory password.

Default: Login admin, password admin

Couriers-configurers must change the password in the settings to the Serial number indicated on the box (S/N). When reconfiguring, it is also recommended to use it as a password for the router and wi-fi S / N ( serial number).

In the router interface, you need to go to the System tab, Administrator password menu.

In field Password(New Password) Enter a new password.

In field Confirmation(Confirm Password ) repeat new password.

Then press the button Save settings.

After that, the router will prompt you to re-enter its settings.

Setting up Wi-Fi on the router.

In the interface of the router, you need to go to the tab WiFi, menu basic settings (Basic settings).

In this article, we will be configuring the very popular D-link DIR-615 router. I will write an article using an example. And if you have a different model, then it's okay, almost everything is the same there. This manual is suitable for many D-link routers. I will try to write about everything in detail and in an understandable language. I won’t talk much about the router itself, read my review and another useful information about DIR-615/A, you can follow the link above. Let me just say that this router is well suited for home or small office. It will easily provide stable Internet access for your computers, phones, tablets (via Wi-Fi) and other devices.

As for setting up the D-link DIR-615, everything is very simple there. And if your provider uses Dynamic IP connection technology, then you just need to connect a router, and the Internet will already work. You will only need to set a password for the Wi-Fi network and change the network name if necessary. The only thing I don't like is that the settings in D-link change in almost every version (in appearance). I have entered the control panel of the router. And therefore, the settings of your router may differ from those that you will see in this article. But a firmware update might fix it.

We will configure the D-link DIR-615 according to the following scheme:

  • Connecting and entering the control panel on D-link DIR-615
  • Internet setup on D-link DIR-615 (connections to provider)
  • Setting WiFi networks and password change

And now, about everything in more detail.

Connect D-link DIR-615 and go to settings

Connect power to the router and turn it on. If the indicators on the front panel of the router do not light up, then check if the power is turned on with the button on the rear panel. If you will configure the router via cable, then take the network cable that comes with the kit, connect the router to the computer. One end of the cable is connected to black LAN connector (in 1 of 4), and connect the other end to the network card of the computer (laptop). Connect the cable from the Internet provider to yellow WAN connector.

If you do not have a computer with network card, or there is no cable, then everything can be configured via Wi-Fi. You can even use your phone or tablet.

You can also change the administrator password, which is used to access the router settings. If you did not change it, or changed it, but have already forgotten, then you can do this on the tab System - Administrator password.

Enter your new password twice and click Apply. Don't forget to save your settings.

Be sure to write down this password somewhere. If you forget it, you will not be able to enter the control panel, and you will have to do a factory reset.

Afterword

Phew, I'm tired :) I won't write anything else. If you have any questions about the article, ask in the comments. I hope you managed to set up your router.
